West London Deep - Biography

Dave Hedger began his musical career in the late 80s, working with house music pioneers such as David Holmes and Rocky & Diesel (X-Press 2) before forming the seminal Innersphere. With Andy Weatherall, as Lords of Afford, he toured the UK and Europe and appeared live on Radio One's Annie Nightingale show and on the late John Peel's Sessions.

As West London Deep, Dave has recorded many successful singles by himself and in collaboration, including one of Pete Tong's Essential New Tunes, "You're Taking Me Over" (subsequently retitled "Gonna Make You My Lover"). As a remixer he has added his magic West London Deep touch to tunes by the likes of Moby, Orbital, Kosheen, Alison Limerick, Apollo 440, The Dub Pistols and Röyksopp, garnering a string of top five Buzz Chart placings in the process.

Last year he recorded a track with reggae legend Big Youth for Wall Of Sound's imaginative Two Culture Clash album, entitled "Rudie No!", and the West London Deep remix of Bent's single "Comin' Back" appeared on the Ministry Annual Summer compilation.

As a DJ Dave's production expertise shines through and his instinctive feel for what works on the dancefloor has led to many international gigs from Italy to Ukraine, Ibiza, all the major festivals, and an Essential Mix for Pete Tong on Radio One.

Recently Dave has focused on studio work with new West London Deep production partner Ollie Jacobs, who has previously produced, mixed and engineered for the likes of Leftfield, The Prodigy and Madonna.

Dave and Ollie's recent West London Deep releases "Inside My Head" (Wall of Sound) and "Dark Matter" (White Label) went Buzz Chart top ten, received heavy airplay and were favourites of the likes of Tongy, Tom Stephan, Laurent Garnier and Danny Tenaglia. DMC Update gave them both five out of five, noting that "Inside My Head" gets "massive floor reactions every time it's dropped" and "Dark Matter" is "a heads down floor filler".

The latest West London Deep track "Tongue Tied" has just come out on exclusive CDR and is already causing a stir. Pete Tong played it as part of his Weekend Hot Mix on The Essential Selection on Radio One and it was Tom Stephan's "Big One" on his Kiss FM show. "I'm a big fan of West London Deep and this is one of the coolest tracks they've done" he said. "I've been playing it out and it's been getting a great response everywhere. I love it."
